Wonderkid Martin Odegaard slammed by Real Madrid teammates

He might be renowned as one of the best young players on the planet but Martin Odegaard’s reputation has done little to endear him to his new teammates, with reports suggesting that the Real Madrid players want to see him prove his qualities before they believe the hype.

According to Goal.com, the players of Castilla, otherwise known as Real Madrid B, are particularly unhappy with the fact that a household name has now taken centre stage in their squad, who are all working towards a chance to feature for the European Champions.

The 16-year-old, who cost Carlo Ancelotti and co £1.2m when he moved from Stromsgodset earlier this year, is already a full Norwegian international and was widely expected to make quick strides through the Madrid youth team set-up.

However, he’s managed just one goal in five outings for the reserves so far and was even reduced to the substitutes bench last time out. Zinedine Zidane’s side have lost four consecutive games with the youngster in the team, but have won the last two without him, one of which also saw Odegaard missing a game due to his latest international call-up.

His lack of progress could open the door for a number of Premier League clubs, who were all interested in the player prior to his Spanish move.
