The 26 year old Mexican international was farmed out to Real Madrid by Louis van Gaal on a season long loan spell that hasn’t quite worked out for the Old Trafford star.

Chicharito would have hoped for a decent shot at regular football at the Bernabeu but has thus far made just one La Liga start and is likely to return to Man United at the end of the current campaign.

Tottenham and West Ham are both keen on Hernandez according to the Metro but Liverpool are now also tracking the forward, with £14m said to be the asking price.

Brendan Rodgers has seen his side’s attack perform nowhere near as well as they did in 2013/14, though the sale of Luis Suarez is clearly a big reason for this, with new signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both failing to deliver the goods and as such a move for Hernandez seems a sensible, if contentious, one to consider.

Hernandez has more than proven himself at Premier League level, his record of 59 goals in 154 appearances all the more impressive when you consider 69 of those Man United appearances came from the bench.
