Martin Skrtel has been an important part of Brendan Rodgers’s plans, and remained solidly consistent throughout the transition into a new formation. His impact and influence on the side was perhaps best highlighted when his absence led to the crushing 4-1 defeat to Arsenal last weekend. Nevertheless, his days at Anfield may be numbered.

According to The Sun, the 30-year-old will wait until the summer – although it is unclear whether that is his choice – before a decision is made on whether he will extend seven-year stay with the Merseyside club.

“I am focusing on my job and after the season, if they want, then we can talk,” he said.

As mentioned, it is set to be a busy summer for Liverpool. The Sun report that Henderson wants £100,000 a week, whilst Sterling has already knocked a new deal worth that amount, leading to speculation that his future lies elsewhere.
