Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal “dreaming” of derby win

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is “dreaming” of a victory in the derby against city rivals Manchester City as the two Premier League heavyweights prepare for a vital clash on Sunday, the Manchester Evening News report.

The Red Devils have lost their last four Manchester derbies, including the previous encounter at the Etihad Stadium in November where Louis van Gaal’s side put in a good showing despite playing most of the game with 10 men.

One point separates the two sides in the Premier League table and they could be further behind pace setters Chelsea and Arsenal when the derby kicks-off.

“Every player dreams of the victory,” Van Gaal said.

“I have to think with my staff and players already [thought] a lot [about] how we have to beat Manchester City.

“You are sitting in that process to win your next opponent and of course you want to win and because it is a big step in the table also.”

Man United are certainly the in-form side with Manuel Pellegini’s men losing three of their last five Premier League games and another defeat on his record will certainly increase the pressure on his future.

With the top four looking secure for the sides currently occupying those positions, there seems to a race to avoid fourth place and a potentially awkward play-off game in the Champions League.
