When Manchester United defender Chris Smalling scored to make it 4-1 in the derby against Manchester City, it was his fourth goal of the season and he has now equaled the tally of striker Radamel Falcao.

The defender made amends for getting sent-off in the reverse fixture back in November to score at Old Trafford to cap off a brilliant performance for the Red Devils as they opened up a four point gap between the two rivals.
Sergio Aguero had opened the scoring early on but after that it was all one way traffic as Ashley Young and Marouane Fellaini turned the game around before half-time.
Juan Mata made it 3-1 to put some distance in the scoreline before Smalling got in on the act when he headed home Young’s free-kick.
Aguero’s second proved to be no more than a consolation as United made it six straight wins in the league and now look a good bet to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
