According to Spanish newspaper AS, the Stamford Bridge outfit have stepped up their interest of the 30-year-old by sending Emenalo out to Spain, as Miranda started in the 2-2 draw against Malaga on Saturday evening.

The Brazilian’s contract at the Vicente Calderon Stadium is set to expire at the end of the next season, and the defender is attracting the attention of the Blues – as well as Manchester United – with the club prepared to sell.

According to AS, the Red Devils were very close to signing the Brazil international last summer, but just missed out on his signature, and they could return again with an offer to battle Chelsea.

Quotes in the Daily Mail, in which he speaks of his flattery at being linked to a move to Old Trafford, suggests that Mourinho may have his work cut out in convincing Miranda to move to west London ahead of their Premier League rivals.
