Manchester United star set for Serie A move with summer exit likely

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could be set to leave Old Trafford this summer with a move to Inter Milan likely after the Dutchman endured a tough 18 months at Old Trafford, according to Matt Law from The Telegraph who was speaking on Sky’s Sunday Supplement show.

After signing from Arsenal in a deal which caused much controversy, Van Persie almost single-handedly delivered Man United their 20th Premier League title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season in charge.

However, injuries and loss of form have meant that Van Persie is yet to reach those heights since then and with his contract running out, a move to Inter Milan seems to be on the horizon.

“Interestingly, Inter boss Mancini tried to take him to Manchester City before United came in so that looks a sensible link,” Matt Law said.

“It does seem like it’s coming to an end. He’s got a year left on his contract after this one anyway so they’ll probably have to pay up the remaining year but it will certainly suit Manchester United to move him on and look elsewhere.”

Radamel Falcao’s arrival could have potentially sparked the end of Van Persie’s career, but his loan hasn’t gone as planned which suggests that Louis van Gaal will be on the market for another striker come June.
