Defeat leaves L’ETG in peril near the bottom of the Ligue 1 table. Their loss at home to Lille, alongside victories for Toulouse and a draw for Lorient means that Pascal Dupraz’s outfit are a little too close to the bottom three for comfort.

With only six games to play they remain 15th in the table, but are only one point ahead of 18th-place TFC and the drop zone.

There was a touch of misfortune—for Evian at least—about Sofiane Boufal’s winner.

The 21-year-old won a penalty after being felled by Daniel Wass, although the contact appeared to begin outside the box.

Evian’s Danish star was furious, but the referee refused to change his mind and Boufal tucked away the spotkick.

The home side had their chances in front of a nervous Parc des Sports crowd, but were thwarted by Lille stopper Vincent Enyeama on several occasions.

Victory keeps Les Dogues in the hunt for a European place—they sit in eighth place, nine points off Saint-Etienne in fifth.
