Emirates Stadium side pursue talented midfielder.
Arsenal are looking to bring in long term target Ilkay Gundogan this summer with the Metro claiming that north London side are readying a fresh move for the Borussia Dortmund star.
The 24 year old has spent a fair amount of time out with injuries in recent seasons but has been a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven this term and was the subject of a failed £18.4m bid from the Gunners in January.
Arsene Wenger is determined to get his man though and the Metro state that despite Man United and Barcelona taking a keen interest in the German international it is the Emirates Stadium side that lead the chase.
Gundogan offers the strength of a defensive midfielder but is also adept at distributing the ball and could be an ideal addition to Wenger’s creative heavy side, offering Arsenal a bit more steel and balance.
Eight Premier League wins in a row have lifted Arsenal’s season but a title push is perhaps wishful thinking though the addition of a strong midfielder could certainly aid their attempts to end a lengthy domestic championship drought.
