24-year-old Clyne has repeatedly turned down contract extensions on his current deal, which expires in 2016, at Saint Mary’s which has fuelled rumours that the defender will soon be on the move from the south coast.

Due to his unwillingness to sign a new deal, Southampton may be forced into a sale in order to cash in on the player who wants to play Champions League football.

The sports news company claim the Saints’ hand may be forced for a fee of around £20m, though if they manage to finish in the top four it would remain to be seen whether he would be happy staying.

Manchester United have been touted as favourites for the right back’s signature, though interest from Chelsea has seen the situation become complicated.
