The 22-year-old has already played for the Italian national team, despite Gianluigi Buffon’s domination of the position over the last two decades. He also went to the most recent World Cup in Brazil, but didn’t appear in the three matches the Azzurri played before crashing out at the group stage.

However, Preziosi is still not entirely decided on whether to keep the youngster or his teammate and competitor Eugenio Lamanna at the club past this season. The 25-year-old has made six appearances in the team this campaign, compared to 27 for Perin. The Serie A side won’t keep both as the duo both want the number one spot.

The president said: “Perin and Lamanna Both are starters, it would be a shame to sit one aside. It is for this exact reason as to why we are Deciding who will depart this summer.”

However, the Premier League trio may still find it hard to sign the prodigious talent, as he seems very committed to his current club.

Preziosi continued: “I am aware that Perin declared he is remaining here 100%, but we must still evaluate our situation. I know he’s fallen in love with this team. We will discuss this in the future, there is still a lot of time.”
