Ten footballers who cost stupid money just for being English: Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea & Man United have all wasted money in the name of patriotism

Despite The Telegraph reporting in October that the 25-year-old wanted to leave the club last summer, he has become a rock – arguably on and off the pitch – remaining a Saint whilst many players jumped ship. However, it appears that his resolve will be tested once again this summer.

According to the Daily Star, the Frenchman is already being watched by Arsenal and Manchester United after another excellent season at St Mary’s. He has made 24 appearances in the Premier League and helped Ronald Koeman’s men stay in contention for a place in Europe next season. And his solid performances have helped Southampton concede the least amount of goals in the entire division.

The Star suggest that Mourinho has joined the growing party of admirers after realising that his chances of clinching Pogba are now slim. Both Manchester clubs, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are already in the hunt for the 22-year-old, who could cost £60m.
