The Colombian international has impressed with a superb goalscoring record in the Portuguese top flight in recent years, and has also done well in the Champions League, netting the third goal in a surprise win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

In total, the 28-year-old has 86 goals in 122 appearances for his current club, and is surely set to be given a chance at an elite European side after this extremely prolific run.

United could do with more quality upfront next term due to some disappointing form from the likes of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, who only have 14 goals between them this year.

According to the Daily Mirror, Martinez may be the man eyed by Louis van Gaal to improve his strikeforce, in what looks like a smart move by the Red Devils.
