San Siro boss Roberto Mancini has his eyes on a number of Premier League talents and will hope to persuade Leiva to leave Anfield this summer.

The former Man City boss will also look to bring in Yaya Toure and Stevan Jovetic as he seeks to conduct a major squad shake-up.

The 28 year old Brazilian has struggled with fitness this term but has proven very effective when called upon, Brendan Rodgers starting Lucas in 15 Premier League matches of which the Merseyside outfit have lost just twice.

Lucas has become something of a fan favourite since his move to Anfield back in 2007 and the fact that Inter Milan are unlikely to have Champions League action to offer the former Gremio man may well aid in Liverpool’s push to retain the tough tackler.

Lucas Leiva has made 271 appearances for Liverpool, netting six goals in the process.
