Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain face transfer battle for AS Roma midfielder

AS Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic is set to be the subject of a summer transfer wrangle between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Bosnian is an influential figure for the Giallorossi and has been in fine fettle in Serie A so far this term. He has contributed six assists and four goals in 23 league starts, but has been unable to help Roma challenge for the title.

The capital club currently sit in third place, 13 points off leaders Juventus, but only one behind Rome rivals Lazio, who occupy the second Champions League berth.

Pjanic joined Roma in 2011 and has grown into one of the club’s key players.

However, he may not be for much longer, with both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United interested in his services, according to Le 10 Sport.

The 25-year-old’s current deal expires in 2018, but PSG will hope to be able to tempt him to return to French football. The international previously featured for Olympique Lyonnais where he was a Ligue 1 runner-up in 2010.
