This is reminiscent of when fellow Blue Kevin Mirallas took the ball from the defender back in January and went on to hit it wide. The Toffees went on to draw that match 0-0 knowing that goal could have given them the three points.

It would seem his Barkley hasn’t learnt from this episode. The 21-year-old at least got his effort on target but it was fairly tame. Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton dived the right way and was easily able to palm the ball away. Afterwards a Clarets player was able to get the ball away for a corner kick which resulted in nothing.

Everton currently have little to play for in terms of the league, but manager Roberto Martinez could do with some victories to get fans back on side after a very poor campaign.

Maybe the England international was missing on purpose after the foul for the penalty was debatably outside the area?
