The 28-year-old has been on loan at the Old Trafford this season from AS Monaco. He has failed to impress in his time with the Red Devils, only scoring four goals in 23 appearances in the Premier League. Not only this but the Colombian has been stuck on the bench for large periods, with Wayne Rooney, and even 19-year-old James Wilson playing ahead of him at times.

After all of this the United boss would appear to have made his decision. Van Gaal has already informed the French side that he will be sending the striker back according to the report. This has left the door open to Liverpool. The Merseyside club are supposedly in talks with Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes. The player’s representative is trying to persuade the Reds to sign his client permanently.

Would a United flop really be the best option for Brendan Rodgers?
