There was a lengthy stoppage when the Spain international went down clutching his face, after being struck by Cheikhou Kouyate’s elbow.
After being given oxygen on the pitch he was taken off, to the concern of team-mates and supporters alike.
Silva is arguably his side’s most important player and one of the few who has managed to retain a consistent level of performance during the Blues’ torrid slump in the run-up to today’s victory, which saw them pick up only four victories in 15 outings in all competitions.
The prospect of being without him for a significant part of the run-in, especially with captain Vincent Kompany in danger of missing all remaining fixtures with a muscle problem, would be a troubling one for the champions.
However, he took to social media site Twitter to put those worries to bed:
Many thanks to all the messages of support, all the tests have gone well and I’m already home. The 3 points is what was important!
