Chelsea to beat Tottenham to signing of French wonderkid

Chelsea look poised to pip Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of France and Standard Liege wonderkid Damien Dussat at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old only joined the Belgian outfit in the summer, signing a contract that should keep him at the club until 2017, but he could already be heading for the exit in a few months time.

Blue boss Jose Mourinho is, according to the Daily Express, considering making an offer for the left-back to frustrate Spurs, who are also keen on the France Under-20 international.

Dussat has made just five starts since arriving at Stade Maurice Dufrasne, but that hasn’t deterred the interest of Mourinho, as he looks to add more talented youngsters at Stamford Bridge.

If Chelsea can pull off a deal, the Express report that the Portuguese will send the defender out on loan to either Mouscron or Vitesse Arnheim to ensure that he continues to get first-team experience.
