It was a night to forget for Paris Saint-Germain and highly-rated striker Edinson Cavani as they bowed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night following a 5-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Barcelona.

The Ligue 1 side trailed 3-1 from the first leg and went into the game hoping to become the first side in the competition’s history to overturn a two-goal deficit while playing as the away side in the return leg.
But they got off to the worst possible start in Spain by conceding the first goal on the night after 14 minutes as Andres Iniesta waltzed through the midfield to thread a pass for Neymar who then rounded Salvatore Sirigu and put the ball into an empty net.
The French side’s task got a whole lost more difficult when the Brazilian striker doubled the lead when he headed home from a Dani Alves cross 10 minutes before half-time.
It finished 2-0 to the La Liga leaders but Twitter was disappointed with reported Manchester United summer transfer target Cavani who once again failed to shine on the big stage:
Last year’s world cup convinced me that Cavani he is really overrrated
