The Mexico international has been watched by the Gunners for 18 months and Espanyol could now cash in with Moreno keen to leave and further his career.

Amid reports that Arsenal are the defender’s chosen club to join, Arsene Wenger is now thought to be readying a £14.3m bid to tempt the hand of the Spanish club.

Arsenal could face competition from Tottenham and Sevilla, who are also keen on getting a deal over the line, though the Gunners are thought to be able to put an imminent deal in with Moreno keen to join, meaning the deal to join the side would be swift and easy to complete.

The centre-back has also featured for his country this season, though has been restricted to just 19 starts for his club, due to a broken leg he sustained during the last-16 game for Mexico in the 2014 World Cup.
