Arsenal howler: Reading goalkeeper booked wedding on day of the FA Cup final

Reading came agonisingly close to progressing to the final of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, but for a howler from goalkeeper Adam Federici in extra time.

Alexis Sanchez scored twice to seal their victory, yet his second goal made for devastating viewing for the Royals faithful. Federici let a weak shot from the Chilean rolled slip through his hands and into the back of the net.

His blunder cost his side an appearance in the final of the English competition for the first time in the club’s history.

Reading supporters will, however, be even more unimpressed by the Australian, as The Sun have revealed that – clearly not thinking his side had much hope of progressing in the tournament – he booked his wedding on May 30th – the day of the FA Cup final.

Nonetheless, the 30-year-old was devastated after his costly mistake, as tears rolled down his face at the full-time whistle, and tweeted how sorry he was after the game:
