Real Madrid v Atletico: Javier Hernandez to be handed dream chance at the Bernabeu

With Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric among the injured at Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti is set to hand Manchester United loanee Javier Hernandez a place in the starting line up against rivals Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish giants host Atletico at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night, and will have to compete without the star trio, as they go in search of goals following the goalless draw at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

Real will have to turn to Cristiano Ronaldo and Javier Hernandez to deliver the goods up front, as they continue their quest to retain the Champions League trophy.

Chicharito has made just two starts in La Liga all season since moving to Madrid on a loan deal from Manchester United in the summer.

The Mexican has found it difficult to break into the largely untouched Real line-up, but is set to be handed a rare start by Ancelotti on the European stage on Wednesday night, the Daily Star report.

The 26-year-old, earlier this month, netted in a 3-0 La Liga victory over Eibar, and will be desperate to get on the scoresheet again against rivals Atletico Madrid.

With his future at his parent club uncertain, and Real almost certainly not going to turn the loan into a permanent deal at the end of the season, now is the perfect time for Hernandez to really rouse any clubs interested in his signature.

If he puts in an impressive performance – his loan spell could very well end on a high note.
