The 33-year-old stopper has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu following his patchy form this season. He was disappointing in the 2-1 derby defeat to Barcelona in March, found wanting in the 4-3 defeat by Schalke in the Champions League and also off-colour when Real Madrid beat Malaga 3-1.

Should Casillas leave the club, the door would be open for de Gea to complete his dream move to the 10-time Champions League champions.

However, Real coach Carlo Ancelotti has indicated that he is not expecting the World Cup-winning goalie to leave the club this summer.

“I don’t think that he will leave,” the coach began, as reported by Le 10 Sport, “I am sure he’s going to stay here until the end of his career.”

Castillas’ current deal expires in 2017, and the former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain coach is expecting the guardsman to see out his contract at the club.
