Arsenal and Liverpool boosted as La Liga ace is set to confirm club departure

The 28-year-old only joined the La Liga side last summer, and has had a very successful debut season with the Rojiblancos. The Croatian has scored 20 goals in all competitions for boss Diego Simeone, and it would be a surprise if he were to leave the side so soon after arriving.

However, according to the Metro the striker may have fallen out with his manager, which could let the Premier League duo in. Mandzukic will cost the sides £26 million if they want to sign him, and the Merseyside club could fund this by selling flop Mario Balotelli. Meanwhile, the Gunners have shown themselves willing to spend big in recent transfer windows with the signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Both sides are in need of more goals if they are going to be challenging for the Premier League or Champions League any time soon. The Reds have failed to replace Luis Suarez properly, and the North London club have been relying on Olivier Giroud in recent seasons. The Frenchman isn’t quite of the quality to lead a side in multiple competitions.
