Following their underwhelming campaign under Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City have been rumoured to be considering whether they need a change at the top.

However, one man who is unlikely to be coming to the Etihad Stadium this summer is Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone…at least according to Arsenal great and Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith.

“He looks happy here,” the former striker began, speaking on the Sky Sports football podcast.

“Jose Mourinho and Ancelotti have always had ambitions to work in all the big leagues in all the big countries, but I don’t think Simeone’s that kind of character.

“It clearly fits him and this club,” he continued, “he knows he’s in charge and he’s the man everybody looks to in that dressing room.

“He is very happy with his lot at Atletico and their supporters won’t be moaning about that.”

On Wednesday evening, Simeone’s Atleti were dumped out of the Champions League by city rivals Real Madrid, but despite this, the young Argentine coach is one of the most sought-after managers in the world game.

He has turned things around completely at Atletico, winning the Liga BBVA title last season and guiding the club to the Champions League final, where they were again beaten by Real.

TalkSPORT have linked him with a move to the reigning English champions, who are a hefty 12 points off Premier League leaders Chelsea with five games left to play this season.
