The goal came in the 38th minute after good build-up play from Damian Alvarez and a smart cross from in-form Brazilian striker Rafael Sobis.

Guerron has been one of the league’s stand-out players since he joined Tigres from Chinese side Beijing last summer. The goal marks his ninth league strike since arriving and his fifth league goal since Christmas.

Tigres have been totally in control so far and the score could already be four or five nil.

They look set to claim top spot in the league, at least temporarily, as well as halting Queretaro’s excellent winning streak.

Queretaro are without Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho who was left on the bench for the game.

If they can hold on and take all three points it will mark a huge step towards the playoffs, with only two games remaining after tonight’s encounter.
