The Gunners shot-stopper took out his Brazilian opponent in the first half at the Emirates Stadium, where the home faithful held their breath as they awaited referee Michael Oliver’s reaction:
The incident happened inside the penalty area but Oliver waved away the protests of Blues players. Oscar required lengthy treatment and, despite playing on for the rest of the half, was substituted at the interval.
