Real Madrid striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez continued his rich vein of form by putting his side 2-1 up at Celta Vigo in tonight’s La Liga clash.
The Mexico international, who put Los Blancos into the Champions League semi-finals courtesy of a late winners against bitter rivals Atletico Madrid in midweek, was on the scoresheet again as the visitors came from behind to lead at Celta, building on a Toni Kroos equaliser.
Chicharito, currently on loan from Manchester United, has hardly featured this season for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but injuries to key forwards Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale presented him with an opportunity to prove his worth.
He produced a cool finish to keep alive Real’s hopes of catching league leaders Barcelona before the end of the campaign and taking the crown off champions Atletico:
It was also a timely strike because it came just hours after parent club United suffered a torrid time at Everton, losing 3-0 at Goodison Park to end their good run of form.
If Chicharito keeps it up it could convince the Red Devils to give him another chance next season.
