Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is fit to face West Brom after shaking off a knee problem, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The 29-year-old was injured during their 3-0 defeat to his former club Everton last weekend, and there had been worries that the England skipper had suffered ligament damage.

However, bruising had subsided enough for a scan on Wednesday and it was revealed that the striker was fine.

This will be great news for the Red Devils, who are already having to deal with injury problems to several key players. Michael Carrick is still on the sidelines, and the Telegraph have also revealed that Luke Shaw is now in the treatment room with a groin problem.

Despite their recent heavy defeat the Old Trafford outfit are still looking set to finish in the Premier League top four thanks to Hull City beating Liverpool on Wednesday evening. With four games to go they are seven points clear of their Merseyside rivals.
