The Gunners are thought to be on the market to add more firepower to their squad this summer as they look to mount a bid to push for the title next season after emerging as surprise, albeit, unlikely contenders to champions-elect Chelsea in the current campaign.

Reports in Italy claim the Uruguayan striker has handed in a transfer request which has shocked PSG, who have previously insisted that they had no plans of cashing in on the 28-year-old.

But the news that he wants to leave in the summer is certain to alert Arsenal, but they are likely to face strong competition from league rivals Manchester United as well as La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid to sign the £55million rated striker.
