It read ‘Rodgers OUT Rafa IN’, and went over the ground before kick off against the relegation strugglers. The Northern Irishman has come under pressure recently after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa and falling away in the race for Champions League qualification through the Premier League. Before the game the Reds were seven points behind fourth placed Manchester United.

The people behind the incident appear to want Benitez to return, who won the Champions League with the Anfield outfit in 2005. The Spaniard is currently in charge of Serie A side Napoli.

However, the players didn’t seem to let the situation affect them. The Merseyside club beat their London opponents 2-1 thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho and Steven Gerrard.
