The Metro claim Chelsea will launch an £80m bid for PSG forward Edinson Cavani and Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

Ever the perfectionist one imagines Mourinho is looking for additional first team signings as he seeks to secure a tight grip on the Premier League as well as pushing on with efforts to make an impact on the continent.

Chelsea will offer £25m for Clyne with Mourinho perhaps looking for a long term replacement for Branislav Ivanovic, the 24 year old Saints man certainly impressing this term though one wonders if he’d be willing to move to Stamford Bridge given the likelihood of having to bide his time to secure regular first team action.

The Blues will also look to bring in £55m Uruguayan Cavani as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his attack.

Summer signing Diego Costa hit the ground running in his debut Premier League campaign but the former Atletico Madrid man has suffered a drop in form as well as some fitness concerns.

However interest in Cavani is perhaps more in relation to a lack of strong back-up options to Costa, with Loic Remy and Didier Drogba offering only an adequate level of support this season.
