The right-back has been one of the few Clarets players to impress this season. The team is rooted to the bottom of the league with just three games to go, and look nailed on to be relegated to the Championship. The 24-year-old has four assists in 35 top flight appearances this campaign, and could stay in the Premier League even if his current team do not.

The defender started his career with Manchester City, but was allowed to leave after failing to get in to the first team at the Etihad. This may have been a mistake from the Citizens, who are now struggling to get enough ‘home grown’ players in their squad. Trippier would have easily fulfilled these criteria.

The Merseyside club seem to be interested in the full-back to replace Glen Johnson. The 30-year-old’s contract ends in the summer and he is unlikely to be given a new deal with the side, meaning the Reds could be short in the position.
