The 30-year-old Slovenia international has one-year remaining on his contract with the Serie A outfit and despite holding talks over an extension, he is thought to be one of the players Inter could sell in a bid to fund moves for Manchester City duo Yaya Toure and Stevan Jovetic in the summer as part of Roberto Mancini’s rebuilding process.

United could face stiff competition from Los Blancos, who have reportedly targeted Handanovic should they fail in their attempts to persuade de Gea decide to depart Old Trafford.

Despite having Victor Valdes as an option it appears that Red Devils manager Louis Van Gaal remains intent on strengthening should De Gea leave and has also been linked with moves for Hugo Lloris and Asmir Begovic from Tottenham and Stoke City respectively.
