The Brazilian, who joined from La Liga side Villarreal in January, believes the squad has the potential to land a first championship crown in over a decade next year and has been encouraged by their form since the turn of the year:

“The title… it’s not easy, but if we prepare hard enough, we’ve got everything that is needed to win it,” the 24-year-old told Sky Sports.

“We’re taking into account that Arsenal has had a bad patch and has worked through it.”

“If we manage to win the title (the FA Cup) and come second, then yes, it will have been a good season.

The Gunners can now turns their attentions to finishing as high as possible in the league with their unlikely title challenge for this season officially over after Chelsea were crowned champions at the weekend with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

A win at the KC Stadium will move Arsenal joint-second with Manchester City and all but guarantee a place in next season’s Champions League.
