Stamford Bridge side keen on Italian veteran.
Chelsea are apparently on ‘red alert’ following comments made by Juventus star Andrea Pirlo that suggest the Italian veteran is set to leave his Turin side this summer.
The Metro claims that the Blues are long term admirers of the 35 year old Italian and Jose Mourinho may look to strengthen his midfield with a move for the experienced playmaker.
Pirlo may be in the latter stages of his glittering career but there’s no denying the infinite quality he still possesses.
Since leaving AC Milan for Juventus in 2011 Pirlo has gone from strength to strength, playing a key role in four successive Serie A title triumphs, making 158 appearances during that period but now it appears he may be ready for a new challenge.
‘Ending my Juventus story by pocketing the Champions League would be a dream come true,’ he told AS.
‘But I won’t stop playing, I’ll go on as long as I have the same great desire to keep training every day.
‘But I wouldn’t go to another Italian team. Juventus will be my last Serie A team, whatever happens.’ Pirlo added.
Whilst clearly Mourinho has a hots of top quality midfielders at his disposal the Portuguese boss may consider a short term move for Pirlo, having never managed the player before.
