Chelsea are said to be eyeing a surprise move for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert this summer as a replacement for their own veteran frontman Didier Drogba, according to the Metro.
The Ivorian stalwart is looking ever more likely to leave the Premier League champions at the end of the season, and manager Jose Mourinho is said to be looking into reshaping his forward line over the summer.
And now reports in the Daily Mirror are claiming that the club are ready to turn to the England international in a bid to add competition for the likes of Diego Costa and Loic Remy.
Lambert came close to leaving Liverpool during the January transfer window when he all but agreed a move to join Aston Villa, and though he eventually turned down a move to the West Midlands he is now thought to be willing to consider a transfer.
It is thought that his signature ould set the Blues back around £5m.
