Sturridge injury
The England international has missed most of the current campaign with various injury issues, limiting his involvement to just seven Premier League starts, but it appears surgery to Sturridge’s hip has proven successful.
Liverpool already had to contend without Luis Suarez in 2014/15, the purchases of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert proving disastrous, and the loss of Sturridge for much of the season has left Brendan Rodgers with a mountain to climb.
A top four finish is still potentially possible though Man United are still four points clear of Liverpool, with just three games to play.
