Juventus vs Real: Madrid players requested ‘lucky pilot Boned’ fly team to Turin

The Real Madrid squad put in a request that airline pilot Boned be the man to fly them to Turin for their Champions League clash against Juventus.

The team consider Boned to be a lucky charm having flown them to Lisbon last season – where they beat fierce rivals Atletico Madrid in the final, and won the competition for a tenth time.

Boned was also reportedly the pilot when Real flew to Munich in their semi-final against holders Bayern last term, in which they won 5-0 over the two legs, and also piloted the plane that flew the team to Morocco where they triumphed in the FIFA Club World Cup later that year in December.

Spanish tabloid Sport report that, as a result of the success the Spanish giants have had when ‘Comandante Boned’ was in charge of their flight, he is now considered the club’s lucky charm for away matches.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be hoping for their superstition to work again on Tuesday night, as they take on Italian giants Juventus in the first-leg of the Champions League semi-final.

This season’s final in the elite European competition could – once more – be all Spanish, as Barcelona take on Bayern Munich in the other semi-final on Wednesday night.
