Signing star attacker would make Chelsea dominate the Premier League, says Gary Neville

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has suggested that Chelsea are just one particular signing away from dominating the Premier League for years to come – just like his old side did for the first decade of the competition.

According to the Daily Mail, Neville believes that should Jose Mourinho be the one to prise Gareth Bale away from Real Madrid, then he will have put together a daunting side, that could control the top flight for a long time, and therefore, both Manchester clubs need to act fast.

“If they get Bale and start to bring through the best young talent in the country, which they’ve got, the rest could be in a little bit of trouble in the next three or four years. They are going to have to act quickly on this,” he said.

Despite enjoying an almost perfect first season in Spain – where he bagged a goal in the Champions League final – and scoring 13 times this campaign, the Welsh wizard has looked bereft of confidence at times, and has received plenty of criticism along the way, thus prompting speculation that he could be heading back to England this summer. Subsequently, a queue of willing of sides desperate for his signature has seemingly formed.

And given Chelsea’s dominance in the league this season, the prospect of adding Bale does make them a frightening proposition. The former Tottenham man can play on the wing or up front, which may come in handy should Diego Costa’s injury problems persist.
