Blues owner Roman Abramovich will apparently back Mourinho in the summer transfer market having agreed the terms on a new contract for the Portuguese manager.

The Telegraph believes that Mourinho will actively look to replace Didier Drogba, Petr Cech and Filipe Luis, who are apparently all set to leave.

Coentrao will offer an effective replacement for Luis, and provide a strong alternative to first choice left-back Cesar Azpilicueta.

A move for Varane may be with a view to finding a long term replacement for veteran captain John Terry, with young Frenchman Kurt Zouma proving more effective when used in a defensive midfield role.

The Chelsea manager is also tracking Atletico Madrid star Koke and Barcelona attacker Pedro.
