The Blues last won the competition in 2012 under Roberto Di Matteo. However, since then they have been unable to match those expectations, only managing to get to the semi-final last time out and not even getting out of their group the year before. This season they got to the first knockout stage – only to be knocked out by PSG on away goals.

Still, the 53-year-old has had great success in Europe in the past, winning the Champions League with both Porto and Inter Milan – both of whom were considered underdogs. Were he to bring the trophy to Stamford Bridge he would be the first ever manager to win it with three different clubs.

This bonus is part of a new four year contract that the Portuguese is set to sign in the coming weeks. It will make the highest paid manager in world football, earning £250,000 a week according to the report. This massive bonus is also sure to sweeten the deal.
