The news was announced via the club’s official Twitter account on Friday afternoon:

The highly-rated 19-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2018, and was attracting interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea as well as Real Madrid. He has moved to end all speculation however, by committing his future to the Mestalla.

Reports in the Metro last weekend suggested that Chelsea were preparing a £13.2million offer for the left-back – who can also play as a left-winger – to fend off interest from London rivals Arsenal. Their plans to sign the youngster will have to be shelved though, at least for this summer.

Gaya has made 34 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and his displays have helped Valencia’s bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League – with the club currently sitting fourth in La Liga with three games to go.
