According to the Express and Star, via Tribal Football, Newcastle United, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion are considering making an offer for the out-of-favour forward when the summer transfer window opens.

It seems unlikely, however, that Newcastle or Sunderland could pull off an audacious deal for the German – given both clubs are in with serious chance of ending their season in relegation to the Championship.

Podolski’s wage demands- he is currently earning a reported £100,000 per-week at Arsenal – would be hard for the Premier League trio to match.

The World Cup winner has scored just one goal during his loan stint with Italian giants Inter, which has done little to convince Arsene Wenger that he should be welcomed back to the Arsenal first-team next season.
