Tottenham have slapped a huge £30million price tag on highly-rated goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in a bid to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to Mirror Online.

With current United number one David de Gea yet to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly identified Lloris as his first choice target should the Spaniard decide to return to La Liga with Real Madrid.

If a deal can be agreed between United and Spurs in the summer for the French international then Lloris would follow in the footsteps of Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov, who have both made the switch from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford in the past.

Lloris was part of the Tottenham side that were soundly beaten 3-0 by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon as any lingering hopes of a potential top-four finish were destroyed with a poor showing against the Potters.
