The Etihad Stadium side are ready to fork out £76m to land Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin de Bruyne and Hoffenheim attacker Roberto Firmino according to the Metro.

This source claims that Brazilian Firmino would be an ideal replacement for Yaya Toure, the 31 year old having repeatedly been linked with a Man City exit this term.

A move for former Chelsea man de Bruyne may well be in relation to the ineffective efforts of the likes of Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas, the Belgian having come highly recommended by Man City captain, and national team colleague Vincent Kompany.

De Bruyne didn’t get much of a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge, making just two Premier League starts, but the 23 year old has been in superb form since moving to the German top tier.

His 19 assists this term make him, by some distance, the leading assist maker in the Bundesliga this season.
