Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal is known to court Muller, a player he knows well from his time at the Allianz Arena, and will look to take advantage of a breakdown in the relationship between the 25 year old and his manager Guardiola.

Muller didn’t take well Guardiola’s decision to sub him during Bayern Munich’s defeat to Barcelona earlier this week and this has led to speculation over his future at the Bundesliga side.

Louis van Gaal may well be looking to further strengthen his attack having already completed the capture of Dutch winger Memphis Depay and versatile forward Muller would offer the Man United boss an option in both wide and central roles.

Van Gaal showed a great deal of faith in Muller in his time in charge at Bayern Munich, the lanky attacker playing a key role in his 2009/10 double winning campaign.

The Man United manager sanctioned a £40m bid for Muller last summer and is ready to renew his interest.

Muller has racked up over 300 appearances for Bayern Munich and has netted 120 goals for the Bavarian outfit.
