While AS Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Spartak Moscow have, at various times over the last few weeks and months, appeared to be in the driving seat to sign the player, the prospect of a move to the Premier League is looking more likely as the player comes towards the end of his current deal.

The Ghana international has expressed his desire to move to England, and recently expressed his adoration for Liverpool—a signal, perhaps, that Anfield would be his destination of choice.

If the Reds, or indeed the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Swansea City, Everton or Newcastle United, are to procure the forward on a free transfer, it will represent an incredible bit of business for a player who, at 25, still has his prime ahead of him.

Against Monaco, in Ligue 1 action on Sunday evening, the Black Star inspired his soon-to-be-former teammates to victory against opponents who had never lost after taking the lead this season.

Ayew was influential in the second half as Marcelo Bielsa’s side regained their poise and their composure.

Particularly impressive was this darting run at the end of the first half.

The Ghanaian played a one-two with teammate Giannelli Imbula before bursting forward, beating two men and getting a shot off on goal.

It was Ayew who scored the equaliser, 11 minutes before the end, when he was first to react, heading home a Romain Alessandrini cross to draw his beloved OM level.

After the match, the player insisted that his departure from the Stade Velodrome wasn’t confirmed yet, but after Sunday’s showing, you suspect that one or two EPL sides will up their efforts to sign this talented star.
