Liverpool close in on deal to sign Premier League hot-shot

The 24-year-old has struggled in his first season with the Reds, scoring just three times in 25 appearances. This has led to the Merseyside club struggling after the departure of their star player, and they look very unlikely to to qualify for the Champions League this time round.

The loss of Suarez has hit them especially hard after his 31 Premier League goals last time round nearly fired them to the top flight title. However, the Uruguayan still believes that the Italy international can make the difference for manager Brendan Rodgers. They certainly need the striker to start hitting the back of the net more often next time round if they are going to be in contention for the title next time round.

The current Barcelona man said: “I think he has played for big clubs. He proved that he was a great player. It’s not easy to win a place at Manchester City. After playing in Italy, he came to England and then returned to Italy before making another return to England. It was very hard for him, but he remains a great player.”

Whether or not the former Manchester City man gets a chance to do so is a different matter though. The Reds may well look to offload him after this poor season.
